My first job was dishwasher at Snydersville Diner. I learned what great food and customer service can do for a restaurant. My wife and I now live in California, however we were able to make a trip to the diner (3.5 hours later, one way) we arrived and had the best lunch! Hot roast beef sandwich open face with gravy and mashed potatoes. Thanks for writing this, it makes me feel at home again even though I'm 2000 miles away... I can smell the pie from here :)

My parents were from the Poconos, and I grew up visiting East Stroudsburg and the surrounding area every summer. As an adult, I have been back many times-always making time to eat at the diner. I will be making a trip sometime this year and look forward to dinner at the Snydersville diner. The food is always great (love the pies) and the service friendly. Be sure to stop in if you are in the area.

Love your blog...and I have always loved the Snydersville Diner...where the folks and food are finer...

I used to work as a hostess there, and I worked with some very fine folks!

The food is A#1...esp. their mac n cheese, which when I worked there, was always served on Fridays. On Tuesdays, people are lined up outside on the ramp, because Tuesdays are Pork and Sauerkraut day.

Don't forget to take home one of their wonderful home-made pies...they are the best around!

Not only is it a great diner, the country ride on the way to enjoy it is equally enjoyable....it truly is a Pocono Gem.

Thanks, Anna! :)

Not sure I've heard about Mollie's. We don't get up to Stroudsburg too often but we did visit an exceptional restaurant on Main Street for Mother's Day breakfast several years ago. Can't recall the name. Ok, Stroudsburg is now on the list. I should have started this years ago. ;)

Thanks again!

Yes, Sara...you're right on target! Next to having great food at the Snydersville Diner, on a trip to the Pocono's (where I, too, lived for
30 years before relocating to the Borough of Nazareth) is our
beloved Nazareth Diner. Great soup and salad bar...always fresh and
the "senior" menu is a great "bang for your buck."

Of course, only second the them...is your fantastic recipes for a "warm
and yummy breakfast at home."

Did I mention to you that you have to try Mollies in Stroudsburg, too?
Many good eats with the "teens" after church at St. Lukes on Main
Street, there also. I believe they also do some dinners on a limited
level. Nice place. Been content just staying home with our Nazareth
Dinner and The Valley on 191, too.

Keep up the "tummy tuning." Anna

Hi! Your blog is great. I grew up in the Pocono's (Wind Gap) and still have family that live there. When I am visiting my family in the Pocono's we almost always make a trip to Snydersville Diner. Good and inexpensive food. I have fond memories of going to Snydersville Diner late at night as a teenager when they were open 24x7.

Thank you for writing, Anna! We seemed to have found a gold mine at Snydersville. Such a homey place. I can see why you and your family have enjoyed it so much.

We went to Billy's Diner a few months before I started this blog. It is definitely on my list to return for a review. It's a wonderful spot with great food. You've probably heard that he is going to open a second restaurant called "Greekers." See the link.

Hi Sara: Was nice to see your comments on the Syndersville Dinner.
I lived in the Stroudsburg area (via a transplant from NY) for 28 years.
I grew up three lovely daughters who have spent many a time at
the Syndersville Diner via get togethers for cheerleading, soccer
practice, etc. On occasion, my hubby (when we could get out with
a sitter) was always there for a late night pre-breakfast. Good memories.
Great food.

I don't know if you like scrapple? My hubby does not. Therefore, I
never tend to have it in the house for breakfast at home. But, whenever
I do go out to breakfast, you can be sure--that's my order, with eggs, ymmmm!

Back to reality...the Snydersville Diner, has the "yummiest" scrapple, ever!!!
So, if you like it...next time you and hubby take a visit there, try it.

On another subject, when you're out and about in Bethlehem. Try
Billy's Diner. It may be a little pricey, but worth the visit. And, if
you and hubby are up to lunch, their burgers are soooo good. Small
place. Good, fresh home cooked food. It's also a great start for a
short walk to Main Street in the center of Bethlehem. Great stores,
fantastic atmosphere.

Best, Anne Marinho
