I love the Whitehall Family Diner, especially their chicken breast stuffed with crabmeat. Their chicken cheese quesadillas are good too. I have never once been served bad food, tasteless food or had bad service. Their bathrooms have always been clean as well as their restaurant.

Being new homeowners in the area and seeing reviews on TV we thought we would bring our family there for breakfast. Breakfast was not good at all, how embarased we were for our guests. We thought we would try again several months later and went for dinner. First the service was terrible, my husband could not even eat his at all, and i tried but could not even finish my meal, especially when the cook came out of the kitchen wearing a dirty t-shirt and filthy sweat pants. That was enought to make anyone sick knowing he made the food we couldn’t even it. The owner needs to make some major changes. We will never go there again.

I was looking for a place to take my boyfriend for his birthday. He mentioned a couple of weeks ago that he might want strawberry pancakes for his birthday and I was looking for a recommendation of where to take him when I came across your blog. What a great idea you had to start a breakfast blog! I’m thrilled by all of your reviews and look forward to trying out many of these diners in the valley!

This place looks like it might be a winner for his birthday. I’ll have to check to see if they offer strawberry pancakes! Thanks!!

On your Friday guest chef segments, it make it easier to figure out who the chef is by saying his or her name or putting on the screen. I only hear the name in the beginning of the broadcast and have no idea who I’m watching.

Huge selection. Everything always hot, fresh and kept well stocked. When you go to fill your plate everything is there. We always get our monies worth and more. It’s hard to think of something they don’t have. Highly recommended.

I was disappointed with Morgan’s breakfast. There seemed to be a disconnect between the menu and what was served. I agree the setting is wonderful and I’ve been there a few times for other meals that were very good, but I felt like what was served for breakfast was not as described, and was average at best.

Thank you so much for your comments, Jen. I do find that over time restaurants change. Sometimes its minor – new dishes or some fresh paint. Sometimes it is more substantial remodeling. The skill of the cook/chef is and the attitude of the waitstaff makes a big difference too. Beacon is an older restaurant, although it’s obviously been updated in bits and pieces through the years.

I try to be as honest as I can in my reviews. Service, food quality and atmosphere are all critical. If we had the same experiences you did with a “slightly dusty flavor of long unused dishware” (btw, that’s a GREAT description!), and/or “bad” tasting food and drinks I would have written that in my review. May have even walked out after telling the manager – in a friendly, helpful way of course.

Our experience at the Beacon was a good one. Yes the restaurant/diner is older, but there is a charm about the place and the service and food we received were good. M is particularly picky about his Eggs Benedict and he liked the ones at the Beacon. Even the hash browns, although pre-packaged, were nicely browned and crisp. My waffle was sensational.

I am *incredibly* surprised that this place did so well by you. My boyfriend and I brunched there a couple years back, and everything had that slight dusty flavor of long-unused dishware. My poached eggs tasted bad. His I-don’t-remember tasted bad. The soda tasted bad. The water, well.. That tasted bad, too. If they’ve improved, that’s a good thing
